Short-term Care Quality
Even though we didn't have many favorable things to say about this place's overall grade, it did receive a respectable short-term care score of B-. This spared its overall profile to some extent. Short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The tricky part is determining what effect this had on quality of care. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Facility Inspections
We actually gave this nursing home a very solid score in the area of inspections as well. In fact, we awarded it a B- in this category. This is better than many nursing homes in this category. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even with this deficiency, this place still received a relatively positive report.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility's third best score was long-term care. As it turns out, with a grade of D in this category, it still performed relatively badly. For prospective residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 94.13793 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
The last area we looked at is nursing. This facility received an abysmal grade of F in that category. The nursing rating weighs many data points. The most important factor is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were far below average. To go along with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this place also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility.
