This nursing home earned a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially wanted to point out its excellent nursing score. We gave them an A in this category. The nursing grade includes several components, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also earned excellent inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better grades in that area, with an B+. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this nursing home also was awarded favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. In fact, we gave it one of our higher scores in that area, with a score of B+. In our short-term care assessment, we strive to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next area we rated is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a D in long-term care, rendering this the facility's weakest area. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is more than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
