Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of performing well overall, this nursing home earned an excellent inspection report. As a result, it received one of our best scores in this area with an A. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many impressive grades, this facility was awarded a top-shelf short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in this category. Short-term care ratings are based on the facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. There are several subcategories within this category. Most of the datapoints relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we rated is long-term care, in which this facility was given a B-. While this proved to be its worst category score, this is still not a major area of concern. Long-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of care. This includes a vast range of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very solid datapoint. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
