Facility Inspections
While we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we gave it a B for our inspections rating. This is the result of the nursing home receiving a decent inspection report this year. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
As it turns out, this nursing home only earned a grade of D for its short-term care rating, which was actually one of its more respectable category scores. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical nursing home. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics sunk this facility's short-term care score.

Nurse Quality
In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. There are a host of datapoints within this category. Most of these criteria relate to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded was long-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Fortunately, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 95.588234 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
