Facility Inspections
While we gave this facility a weak overall score, we gave it a fairly respectable score in the category of inspections, where we gave it a B-. This was certainly better than its other categories. We believe that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
The second best area we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. In computing our short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. The nursing grade consists of a handful of subcategories, however, the primary one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing scores also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its patients.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at is long-term care, which proved to be this nursing home's weakest category. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in this area. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care ratings. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable percentage. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
