Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our nursing rating. Our nursing score looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures. While this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared well in this statistic. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a resident even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this facility's second most respectable category is short-term care. Nevertheless, with a D in this category, it still fared relatively badly. Our short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. With its abysmal score in this category, we were not stunned to learn this nursing home provided substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, this nursing home received a lowly F for its inspection score. This is a particularly important category. Grades in this range typically mean we found red flags on the facility's inspections. For places with poor inspection ratings, you should really focus on any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This particular nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they created a threat to resident safety or health. Finally, we would like to point out that this facility received significant government fines totaling more than $100,000. This generally means that a poor performance has been an issue for multiple years.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we rated was long-term care, in which this nursing home received a rock bottom score in this category also. It received an F for this area, which is definitely a major disappointment. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes offer. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. We were disappointed to learn that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 90.05525 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
