Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in our inspections category, where it earned a grade of A+. Few facilities performed as well in this area. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident safety or health. A couple minor dings aren't something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this nursing home's above average category scores came in the area of short-term care. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with a grade of B. In forming these short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. Our nursing grade assesses a handful of datapoints, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we analyzed was long-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of B. This nursing home didn't end up having any weak categories. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.66667 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
