Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively minor. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of long-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in that category. Unfortunately, this wound up being one of its better grades. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home didn't perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated 48.83721 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is quite a few points less than average. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. Our nursing grade weighs quite a few datapoints, but the main consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This place provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was short-term care. This nursing home was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that category. Our short-term care scores are believed to be most meaningful for patients needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Based on its score in this category, we weren't surprised to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 2.9 percent of its patients returning home.
