Facility Inspections
In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, this place really excelled in our inspections category, where it received an A+. Not many facilities fared better in this area. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
We also gave this nursing home a score of A- for our long-term care score. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.492386 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. When determining a nursing home's nursing grade, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses commit to patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a low total compared to most other nursing homes. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is short-term care. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this area. Short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. It doesn't look like this facility submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
