This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent government inspection reports in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we also wanted to point out that this nursing home was given favorable short-term care marks this year. We awarded them one of our better scores in this area, with a grade of B+. This turned out to be the nursing home's second strongest score. With our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to forge a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This proved to be a real strength for this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the country with 66.7 percent of its patients returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most nursing homes.
