Facility Inspections
The main reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it earned an excellent inspection grade. In fact, its inspection grade was far better than its overall grade. In our inspections category, we gave it an A+. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a decent grade in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a B-. Short-term care scores are important for individuals looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. We were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.

Long-term Care Quality
This facilities third best category was long-term care. We gave it a C in this area. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 93.80165 percent of its patients. This is somewhat lower than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our final category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D in the area of nursing. This was the nursing home's weakest category grade. Of course, this grade hurt the facility's overall grade to some degree. Our nursing rating assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the amount of time spent with patients. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is an alarmingly low total. On top of its weak nursing hour totals, this facility earned suboptimal scores in many of the quality-based metrics we considered in calculating our nursing scores. We found that a higher percentage of this place's patients suffered falls which led to major injury. We believe that many falls could likely be avoided with better nursing care. This metric contributed to this place receiving a poor nursing grade.
