Long-term Care Quality
We want to point out that this place received a much better grade for long-term care than it received overall. In fact, we gave it one of our best scores in that category with an A. When facilities receive this type of score in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is more than most nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more impressive category grades was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a B. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this category. In our short-term care score, we seek to forge a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of B- in this category. When determining a facility's nursing score, we consider the amount of time nurses spend with residents as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, although this nursing home got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed well in this statistic.
Facility Inspections
Moving on our final category of inspections, this facility received an F in this area. This grade was detrimental to this nursing home's overall score. When a facility has this poor of an inspection rating, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to resident safety. This facility had 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we found is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a threat to resident health or safety. Lastly, we also would like to point out that this facility was assessed large government fines totaling more than $100,000. This generally signifies that a nursing home's bad performance has been an issue for multiple years.
