Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this nursing home really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that area with an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. It doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. We would like to have more information about this nursing home. Without having access to the deficiency related data, it ended up being challenging to fully evaluate it in terms of this category.
Nurse Quality
Another one of this nursing home's stronger areas was in the category of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B. Nursing grades are mostly based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning a patient more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality
The third most favorable area we awarded this facility in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the final area, this nursing home was awarded a decent long-term care score of C. In determining our long-term care grades, we assess the facility's personal care services. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 96.666664 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is higher than the average nursing home. This facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
