Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. It doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Without having access to complete deficiency data for this nursing home, it is a challenge to assess it in the inspections category.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our nursing grade. Nursing ratings are mostly based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a policy of turning residents more often.

Short-term Care Quality
This facilities third best area is short-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road score in this category. In forming these short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to devise a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at was long-term care. This nursing home received a better than average long-term care score this year, with a C. While this isn't as impressive as some of its other grades, this is nevertheless an acceptable score in this category. In determining our long-term care ratings, we assess the facility's personal care services. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 96.85535 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is more than the average nursing home. This facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
