Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. This facility was assessed 9 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's second most favorable category was long-term care, but it nevertheless earned a grade of just D in that category. This still happens to be a well below average score. Facilities that don't fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 87.88547 percent of its residents. This is quite a bit lower than average. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. With a meager 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to the last category, this facility did not fare very well here either. With a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. In the category of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Given its grade in this area, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the data we assessed. The final statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.4 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below average.
