While this place's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category, which is one of our better scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively insignificant. This place was assessed 2 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This means inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to present an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Moving on to the category of short-term care, this facility was awarded just a D in that category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better features. Our short-term care scores are thought to be more important for folks in need of a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. As you might expect, we learned that this nursing home offers far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that it fared better in this area, with 50.2 percent of its patients returning home.

We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Nursing scores are largely associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This place averaged only 3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at a few quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home was above average in two of the statistics we focus on, with solid scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

The final area we rated is long-term care. This nursing home was given a very poor grade of F in that category. If you are looking for services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 95.38905 percent of its residents, which is an above average datapoint. Surprisingly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 1.77 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was not bad since it had some more complicated patients.
