Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We would argue that one of the most important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

We also would like to point out that this facility was given an F for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care grades are considered to be most meaningful for patients requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

In our next category, we gave this nursing home an F in the area of long-term care. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this facility gave the vaccine to a relatively low 63.232964 percent of its patients, which is several points lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.

The next area we scored is nursing. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is a poor score. When calculating our nursing grades, we assess both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This facility averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is not a very impressive figure. In addition to receiving below average marks for total nursing hours, this place was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in determining our nursing scores. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and found this nursing home was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
