Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We gave this nursing home an impressive grade of A in the area of short-term care. In computing our short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This category is more often than not a solid measure of the facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we assessed in this area is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of B+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically have few of these severe deficiencies. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to another strength for this facility, it also received an elite nursing score. We gave this facility a score of D. The nursing score consists of many datapoints, most of which are based on nursing hours. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, this nursing home's nurse staffing levels were far below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This place fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's worst category is long-term care, which is the final area we assessed. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this category. Even with several solid grades in other categories, this score is still of a concern so we would like to to draw your attention to it. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the place is not as well-staffed. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 69.565216 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
