The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its impeccable health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher grades in that area, with an A. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall grade, which was decent but not in the elite range. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Turning to the area of long-term care, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- in that category. If you are looking for services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 73.54597 percent of its patients, which is slightly below what we were hoping for. Lastly, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. We found that this place had 2.88 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. While this admittedly wasn't as strong as some of its other scores in this category, this statistic can be skewed for some facilities based on some of the medical complexity of residents.

This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. Our nursing grade analyzes many factors, however, the paramount one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also factored in some quality-based measures. This place performed well in some of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the percentage of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home beat the national average.

Turning to the fourth area, this nursing home did not fare well. Due to a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is its worst area. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. We found that this place was subpar in several staffing areas we focus on. The facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other nursing homes. The last metric we assessed in this category is the number of residents who eventually returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 39 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
