Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest scores in that category with a grade of A. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a decent grade in the area of long-term care, with a B-. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 85.00948 percent of its patients. This is quite a bit less than what we expected. Nevertheless, this facility keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility received a strong nursing score this year as well. It earned one of our higher scores in that area with an above average grade of F. When determining a nursing home's nursing grade, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are with residents and the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the final area, this nursing home really did not fare well. Due to a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this was this nursing home's worst area. Our short-term care scores are likely most critical for patients in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Considering its grade in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. The last statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.3 percent of its patients returning home.
