Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B- for inspections. This score is better than the place's overall grade. Our inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This facility was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities second most favorable category was short-term care. We awarded it a C in this category. This is basically a middle of the pack score in this category. Our short-term care scores are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. In fact, it provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. When determining our nursing grades, we weigh both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of the nurses. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the number of hours of care provided.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next category we assessed was long-term care, which turned out to be this facility's worst area. We gave this facility a D in this category. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 99.04762 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
