Facility Inspections
On top of performing well overall, this facility received nearly flawless government inspections. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to its superb resume, this nursing home also performed well in our short-term care area. In fact, we gave it a score of A in that area. In our short-term care grade, we seek to forge a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, this facility also was given favorable long-term care scores in our assessment. In fact, we awarded it one of our stronger grades in that area, with a score of B+. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 63.52941 percent of its residents. This is slightly below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Nurse Quality
The last category we looked at ended up being this nursing home's poorest category. However, even in its worst category we still gave it an acceptable grade of B- in nursing. In calculating our nursing ratings, we analyze both nursing hours and the skill levels of those nurses. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing ratings also consider some quality-focused statistics. We look at the percentage of patients who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these data points are decent indicators of the quality of nursing care, since superior care can reduce these issues.
