Facility Inspections

Grade: A+

In addition to receiving an elite overall score, this facility also received an A+ inspection score. This is based on the facility's recent government inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can offer a nursing home. Our inspection grades are tied to items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its top-shelf resume, this facility also performed well in our long-term care area. In fact, it received a grade of A for the area. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is much higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Our nursing category is based on several factors, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last area we assessed was short-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of C. This was this nursing home's weakest category. This is still not a poor grade. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this nursing home submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that returned home from the facility. We found that just 2.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
