Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this place also earned first-rate health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our best scores in this area, with an A+. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility fared well in the category of short-term care. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- for that category, which happens to be one of our most favorable grades. Our short-term care grades are thought to be most critical for residents requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of patients that were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded its third best category grade in the category of long-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of C in this category, which is a respectable score. For residents looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Nurse Quality
The next category we looked at was nursing, which was this facility's weakest category. It received a lowly F for this category, which is obviously a bit of a concern. The nursing rating weighs a variety of data points. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This place provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Unfortunately, this facility also didn't perform as well as we hoped in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed in this category.
