Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A+ for that area, which is one of our highest scores. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with a list of severe deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even with this deficiency, this place still received a relatively positive inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's long-term care rating appears to be one of its better features. The nursing home was awarded a grade of B- in this area. Our long-term care grades are more important for folks needing more conventional assistance associated with personal care. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility administered the vaccine to 99.42363 percent of its residents, which is an above average statistic. Unfortunately, its hospitalization rate was not quite as favorable. Here we found that this place had 2.48 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.
Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. Our nursing score weighs quite a few subcategories, but the main consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility offered just 2.5 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is not a very impressive figure. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also didn't perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we scored was short-term care, where this facility received a bottom of the barrel score in this category as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this area, which is obviously a major concern. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Based on its score in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the figures we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 23.2 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below the national average.
