Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall rating, this facility performed even better in the area of inspections which is based on the nursing home's recent inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category, which is one of our highest grades. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home an A-. There are a variety of factors included in this category. Many of these criteria reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning residents more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also was given a strong short-term care score. Indeed, we awarded it an above average score of B+ in this category. In computing our short-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is often a reliable assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the final category we looked at. In this category, we gave this facility a grade of D. We would like to to point out this possible weak link, however, you should not focus exclusively on a single weak area either. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 48.57143 percent of its patients. This is significantly less than what we expected. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
