Registered Staff Hours
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more favorable category scores was in the area of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. It actually performed better than most nursing homes in this category. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 88.47584 percent of its patients. This is somewhat below what we expected. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of short-term care, this nursing home was given just a D in this area. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its abysmal score in this category, we were not shocked to find this nursing home offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
The last category we scored is nursing. This nursing home was given a very poor grade of F in this category. When computing a nursing home's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses spend with patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This place offered just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores.
