Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Our nursing score is mostly based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility was given a favorable long-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B+. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are kept in good health. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 90.654205 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be slightly less than we were hoping for but still a respectable percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last area we assessed is short-term care. We gave this facility one of our more favorable grades in this category, with a grade of B. Although this isn't as high as some of its other grades, it is nevertheless a positive grade. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
