Facility Inspections
B-
Historical
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
C
Historical
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C. When computing a nursing home's nursing rating, we weigh the number of hours nurses spend with patients as well as the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 3.1 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses to assist its patients.

Short-term Care Quality
D
Historical
This facility's second worse category was short-term care, where it received just a D in that category. This is a relatively poor grade. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to gauge a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. With a score of this caliber for this category, we were not shocked to learn this place was well below average in two of the key staffing figures we assess. The nursing home provided significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. This was not a strength either for this place. We found that just 46.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
D
Historical
This nursing home's weakest area was long-term care, which is the last category we looked at. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of just D. If you are looking for services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care grades. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.62406 percent of its residents, which is an above average datapoint. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.93 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
