Facility Inspections
The primary reason this facility received a decent overall score is its impeccable government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher grades in that category, with an A. This is a much better score than the place's overall grade, which was decent but certainly not elite. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category generally have few of these severe deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's short-term care rating is one of its respectable features. The facility received a B- in this area. In forming these short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to create a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The more important thing is determining what effect this had on quality of care. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
This facilities next best category was long-term care. We gave it a B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the pack grade in this category. Our long-term care grade is generally used to judge a facility's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services provided by a skilled nursing facility. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated only 79.01907 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
The next area we graded was nursing. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. This is clearly a major disappointment. The nursing rating consists of many factors, however, the most important one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. To go along with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We looked at the percent of residents experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This place had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average nursing home.
