Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also performed well in the area of inspections, where it earned a grade of A+. Very few places performed as well in this category. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Our nursing grade is primarily based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Moving on our next category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for its long-term care grade. This is a very strong rating. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 90.90909 percent of its residents, which is a few points below what we expected. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to our fourth area, this nursing home was awarded an excellent short-term care rating. While this wasn't quite as impressive as several of its other category grades, this is nevertheless one of the more favorable scores a facility can receive. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
