Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection ratings are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this category have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given an impressive long-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B+. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 68 percent of its residents. This is a few points lower than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. This wasn't quite as good as some of its other scores, but a grade in this range is not the end of the world. Our nursing rating is primarily tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, although this nursing home got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this statistic.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care. We gave it a C in this area. This is a decent grade in this area. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for prospective residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. It doesn't appear that this facility provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
