Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall score was terrible, it fared well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that area, which is one of our better scores. Inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with a list of deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home received 12 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of long-term care, this facility received just a D in this area. As it turns out, this ended up being one of its better features. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes offer. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We found that this facility gave the vaccine to just 64.067795 percent of its residents, which is a bit of a concern. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. We analyzed the licensure of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the quantity of hours the nurses worked with patients, in determining our grade in this area. This nursing home averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the next area, this facility did not fare very well here either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as terrible as it gets. In our short-term care category, we endeavor to forge a meaningful measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Based on its score in this category, we were not surprised to discover that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the figures we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
