Facility Inspections
Although we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid nursing homes that have too many severe deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of C. Our nursing rating is primarily tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home only received a D for its short-term care rating, which is well below average in this category. In the area of short-term care, we try to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.4 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we scored is long-term care. This nursing home was given a poor grade of F in that category. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it generally means the facility did not perform well in our quality measures relating to resident care. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to only 84.083046 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
