Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its relatively modest overall grade, we awarded this nursing home an A for our inspections rating. This grade is far more impressive than its overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Additionally, we awarded this facility a grade of B in our short-term care category. This is one of our better scores. In determining our short-term care grades, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is often a reliable assessment of a facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this nursing home is its favorable grade in nursing. We gave them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. We assessed the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses spent with residents, in determining our score in this area. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the last category we scored. Sadly, it received an F for this category. Even with several respectable scores in other areas, this grade is still of a concern so we felt obligated to make sure you are aware. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 96.2406 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
