Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable health inspections in recent years. We gave it a respectable grade of B+ in this area, which is much better than its overall grade. Our inspection scores account for several factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You should avoid places with a list of deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facilities second most favorable area is long-term care. We awarded it a C in this area. This is basically a slightly below average score in this area. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 97.59615 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of short-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in that category. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a grade in this range for this category, we weren't stunned to learn this facility was well below average in many staffing figures we assess. The facility supplied substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 5 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the next area, this facility really did not perform very well in this area either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. When calculating our nursing scores, we analyze both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Unfortunately, this facility also had terrible scores in some of the quality-based metrics to go along with its weak nursing hour totals. We looked at the percent of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This nursing home was at approximately 1.5 times the national average in this area. This is a bad sign when you consider that so many bed sores could be avoided with better nursing care. This metric helped pull down this nursing home's nursing score significantly.
