Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. Unfortunately, this facility was assessed a category L deficiency, which is not what we expected based on its inspection grade. This category of deficiency indicates the government inspectors discovered a widespread deficiency putting resident health or safety in immediate danger. While other aspects of this nursing home's inspection report were favorable, we have some reservations.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility wound up receiving a rock-bottom grade in our long-term care category. It received an F in this area. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 98.76923 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility wound up receiving a a very poor grade in our short-term care area. It was given an F in this area. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. With a score this poor in this area, we were not stunned to find that this nursing home was well below average in several staffing figures we looked at. The nursing home provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
Nurse Quality
The final category we assessed was nursing. This facility was given a rock bottom grade of F in this category. We analyzed the licensure of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours those nurses worked with patients, in determining our grade in this category. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This facility also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to go along with its low nursing hour totals. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This nursing home was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this metric.
