Registered Staff Hours
While this nursing home's overall score was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also received a favorable grade in our short-term care category. We gave this facility an above average grade of B in this category. In crafting our short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients that returned home from this facility. We found that 6.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for our long-term care rating. This is not an impressive grade. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. We were pleased to find that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
The last category we graded was nursing, where this nursing home was given a very poor grade in this category also. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously very concerning. We scrutinized the skill-level of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses spent with residents, in calculating our grade in this category. This nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This facility performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
