Long-term Care Quality
On top of being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also fared well in long-term care, where it earned an impressive grade of A+. Few facilities fared better in this category. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. After considering the impressive nursing hours and other staffing provided by this nursing home, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 98.27586 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. We found that this nursing home had 3.93 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. While this admittedly wasn't as favorable as most of its other scores in this area, this figure can be skewed for some facilities due to some of the medical complexity of patients.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also received an A+ inspection score, making it one of the rare places to receive multiple A+'s in our category grades. This grade is based on the place's recent inspections. An A+ in this area is one of the biggest complements we can pay to a nursing home. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite minor. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. When computing our nursing grades, we factor in both staffing levels and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home boasts a really impressive 4.1 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, of which a significant portion was provided by registered nurses. This is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. On top of offering impressive levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. With less than 5 percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth area, this nursing home was given a very strong short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a B+ in that area, topping off one of our more favorable profiles. Our short-term care grades are vital for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more hours of care from registered nurses to its residents. The last item we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 37.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
