This facility's nursing score outpaced its overall rating. In fact, we gave it a B+ for its nursing score. Our nursing grade analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of training of the nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This facility fared well in some of the quality measures we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the percentage of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided with better nursing care.

Inspections is another area where this facility excelled. We awarded this nursing home an B+ for our inspections category. Inspection grades weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. While this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

The third category we assessed was short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The final statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 33.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

The next area we assessed is long-term care, which is this nursing home's worst area. It received an F in this category, which is certainly a major concern. Facilities that don't fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 92.41071 percent of its patients. This is slightly less than we were hoping for but still a decent percentage. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 1.62 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
