Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its elite accomplishments in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a score of A- for its long-term care grade. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 99.54338 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. In calculating our nursing scores, we look at both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of moving residents more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning to our fourth category, this nursing home also performed well in the short-term care category. We awarded it a grade of A- in that area. This topped off truly elite report card. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to score a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
