Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection grades are tied to several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. It doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also gave this facility a score of A for our long-term care grade. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility does not leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Nursing ratings are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Turning to our final category, this facility did not fare well. With a very poor grade of F in that category, this was obviously this facility's weakest grade. In calculating these short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
