Regent Care Center of El Paso is a large nursing home located in El Paso, Texas. This isn't a very good facility with a D overall grade. Grade: B-plus

While we didn't give this facility a good overall grade, we actually gave it a strong grade in the area of inspections, where it earned a B+. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

This nursing home's second most favorable category ended up being its long-term care score, where it received a C. In our long-term care category, we look at the sheer quantity of services provided by a facility, along with a handful of quality metrics. Once we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 97.297295 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

In our next category, we gave this facility an F in the category of short-term care. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Considering its grade in this category, we weren't stunned to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Frankly, this was about what we expected to find. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
