One of the reasons this is a decent nursing home is that it earned a favorable inspection score. In this category, we gave this facility a B+. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. While this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an B. We analyzed the levels of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses worked with patients, in determining our rating in this category. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

The third category we analyzed is short-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this category. In crafting these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Turning to our fourth category, this nursing home didn't fare very well. With an abysmal grade of F in long-term care, this was its worst grade. Nursing homes that don't fare well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. One of the data points we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to a relatively low 67.479675 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
