In addition to performing well in its overall score, this facility received even higher grades in nursing. In fact, it received one of our best scores in that category with an A. We assessed the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time the nurses were with residents, in calculating our score in this area. This particular nursing home provided 4 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which was above the national average. Lastly, this place also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In terms of the number of its patients suffering falls which lead to serious injury, this facility performed as well as any nursing home in the nation.

In addition, this nursing home also performed well in our inspection category, which is based on its inspection reports. We gave it a grade of A- for that area, which is one of our highest scores. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

This facility is also strong in the area of short-term care, where it was given a score of B. It outpaced most nursing homes in this area. In determining our short-term care ratings, we scrutinize the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This area is more often than not a solid measure of the facility's rehabilitation. This facility was satisfactory in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It offered a reasonable level of care from both physical therapists and registered nurses. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that it was respectable in this area with 46 percent of its patients returning home.

Historical

The last area we scored is long-term care. We gave this nursing home a decent grade in that category, with a C. Even though this wasn't as dominant as many of this facility's other grades, it is nevertheless not a terrible score. In the category of long-term care, we focus on the quantity of services offered by a nursing home, as opposed to more medically-intensive services. Although we determined this facility has an above average amount of nursing hours provided by nurses and other nursing staff, we found its vaccination rate to be a bit below average. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to just 90.02849 percent of its residents. This is a statistic we'd love to see this facility bring up. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.31 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
