Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
While we gave this nursing home a terrible overall score, we awarded it a B- for our long-term care rating. Long-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's amount of care. This means a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 90.48913 percent of its patients. This is quite a bit lower than what we were hoping for. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an C. Our nursing grade includes many components, however, the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't perform too badly in the area of short-term care. In fact, we awarded it a C in that area, which is another one of its higher scores. Our short-term care grade is often used to assess a facility's rehabilitation services To offer quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature better levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The key is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
Facility Inspections
The last category we assessed was inspections. This facility did not receive positive government inspections in recent years. In fact, we had to give it an F here. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection score, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
