Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our short-term care grade. With our short-term care category, we attempt to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the facility. We found that 6.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this nursing home also excelled in inspections, where it earned an A-. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality
Adding to this nursing home's list of strengths, it also received an excellent nursing grade. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. In computing our nursing grades, we look at both nursing hours and the training levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we assessed was long-term care, which ended up being this nursing home's worst area. We awarded this nursing home a D in this area. However, we would not assess this nursing home based solely on one weak area, as it earned multiple superb scores in other categories. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
