Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. The nursing category weighs a handful of factors, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This place provides 0 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a place has quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also stunned to learn that this facility earned a somewhat respectable short-term care rating this year. We gave it a B- in this category. In our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The more important thing is determining what bearing this had on quality of care. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second lowest score is long-term care, where it earned just a D in that category. This is a relatively poor grade. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 87.960686 percent of its residents. This is pretty significantly below what we expected. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
Facility Inspections
Turning to our final category of inspections, this facility received a grade that's as bad as it gets. We weight this category more heavily than our other categories. With facilities that received this poor of an inspection grade, we would scrutinize any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This nursing home was hit with a category J or K deficiency, which are among the worst categories of deficiencies. These categories mean that inspectors found a deficiency which puts patient health or safety in imminent jeopardy. On top of having severe deficiencies, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
