Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an excellent inspection grade. Its inspection grade was far better than its overall score. In the inspections category, we gave this facility an A-. Inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 9 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also was given a positive short-term care grade. As a matter of fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ in that area, which happens to be one of our better. Our short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 6.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The third most favorable category we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. One of the datapoints we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. Fortunately, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.604744 percent of its residents. This nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The final category we assessed is nursing. We awarded this facility a grade of C in that area. Our nursing rating is largely associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics. While this place got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this subcategory. This is often an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving residents more often.
