While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Our nursing score analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. This nursing home provided just 3.1 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared to most other nursing homes. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Although this facility didn't have as many nursing hours per resident as many of the other nursing homes we assessed, it was still better than average in the area of avoiding major falls.

Surprisingly, we awarded this facility a C for our short-term care score, which isn't a bad grade. Our short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. The last measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that it performed respectably with 47.7 percent of its residents returning home.

Sadly, this facility received a grade of just D in our inspection category. This is well below average grade. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. You should be especially cautious when considering a nursing home with severe deficiencies on a recent inspection report. This facility was hit with 7 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to resident safety or health. Lastly, we want to point out that this facility was assessed significant government fines in recent years of over $50,000. This typically means that government inspectors became frustrated after multiple years of bad inspections.

The final category we scored was long-term care. It received an abysmal F in this area, which is a bottom of the barrel score. Long-term care scores in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this nursing home gave the vaccine to just 86.9186 percent of its residents, which is somewhat concerning. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. Here we found that this facility fared poorly with 3.18 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, this figure is nearly twice the national average.
